O’Connor: it’s all about getting the timing right

JACK O’CONNOR watched the qualifier machine spit out Mayo last Saturday and then saw Dublin’s Leinster football winning run grind to a halt last Sunday.

The two form teams in the country during the spring have hit a summer drought and after last season where Kerry soared during the league before plummeting early in the championship, the Kerry boss has an insight into that particular condition.

“The championship is all about timing. I think the key to the league for us last year, was because we had a very strong panel. We were able to rotate players and win the league without training very hard. If you put a lot of emphasis on the league and train very hard, somewhere along the line, you’re going to reach a plateau.
