Dublin board refuses Fennell transfer switch

THE long-running Eamon Fennell transfer saga came to an end last night after Dublin GAA chiefs voted 39-21 against allowing the county midfielder switch from O’Toole’s to St Vincent’s.

Fennell had taken a case to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) after the Dublin County Committee turned down his application to move clubs earlier this year.

However, the DRA subsequently ruled that Dublin chairman, Gerry Harrington and the county committee had acted in accordance with the rule book at that last meeting.

They also ruled that Fennell should be awarded the opportunity to address officials.

Following that meeting, GAA officials in the capital voted overwhelmingly against the proposed transfer.

Harrington said last night: “This is the end of the matter as far as I and Dublin County Board are concerned.”
