Rebels bid to maintain momentum

GER FITZGERALD is hoping to maintain the current momentum behind Cork hurling after Sunday’s Munster SHC success over Tipperary, when he leads his U21 charges into action in tonight’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21HC quarter-final against Waterford in Páirc Uí Chaoimh at 7.30pm.

“It was a great win for Cork on Sunday and that display was a great template for anyone going out to play a championship game,” says Fitzgerald.

“It just shows when you’re mentally tuned in, what a team is capable of. But looking at this Waterford side, we’re facing very formidable opponents. They were Munster minor champions last year, they beat Tipperary in the U21 semi-final last year and were then unlucky afterwards to lose to Clare in the final. They’ve a lot of those U21s still available and in no way are we going to underestimate them.”
