OFFALY football manager, Tom Cribbin, has questioned the decision to redevelop O’Connor Park in Tullamore when there are no adequate training facilities for the county’s representative teams.

The lack of a permanent training base has been a live issue in Offaly for the best part of a decade. When the senior footballers went on strike in 2004, it was one of their chief demands during talks with the county board.

Former chairman Ollie Daly stated his determination to solve the problem during his tenure but his term ended three years ago and O’Connor Park has been transformed into a state-of-the-art venue in the years since.
