Harrington leads Béara to glory
Star man for the West Cork school was captain David Harrington who kicked 1-4, the goal the difference between the sides until Sean T O’Sullivan put the game beyond doubt with a penalty on 58 minutes.
Abbeyfeale pair Alan Barry and his midfield partner Adrian Enright enjoyed the better opening and controlled things around the centre. Barry kicked two early frees and added a sublime sideline approaching half-time but very often, his side were too dependent on him for scores. Indeed only one of their starting six forwards got on the score sheet. In contrast, a physically stronger Béara had three different scorers in the first period alone, Harrington curled over two early points, Jason Walsh notched a similar tally while Traolach Connolly had the sides level on five points apiece at the break.
