Horgan enjoying Rebels’ final focus

AFTER the stresses and strains of the past two springs, Cork attacker Patrick Horgan has relished the chance to have an uninterrupted start this season. Since joining the Cork squad in 2008, Horgan has been forced to deal with off-field conflicts that have plagued the county, but this season he has been able to focus on hurling, which has helped Cork reach Sunday’s NHL Division 1 decider against Galway.

Horgan enjoying Rebels’ final focus

“It’s been my first full start to the season at senior level and I’ve just been looking forward to playing hurling, which we weren’t able to do the last couple of years. I’ve just been enjoying it and it’s great to be in the final. Cork haven’t been in too many national finals recently. A lot of the lads have All-Ireland medals, but it’d be great for us to kick on again.”

Horgan also has the benefits of a Fitzgibbon Cup campaign behind him this season for the first time which, he feels, has helped sharpen his hurling.
