Westmeath on look-out for new boss

WESTMEATH County Board will begin efforts to find a replacement for football manager Brendan Hackett on Wednesday night when the executive officers convene and this will be followed by meetings of the football board and the county board.

Board Chairman Tom Farrell praised him for being “honourable” in deciding to walk away (with the rest of his management).

“In fairness, he met the whole panel on Friday night and as a result of that meeting he felt he could no longer stay as manager. Brendan was always a very honourable man and meeting the players face to face was the right thing to do,” said Farrell.
