Rossies boss Gacquin looks to O’Grady for Dublin showdown

ROSCOMMON manager Jimmy Gacquin has made one change for Saturday’s Cadbury All-Ireland U21FC semi-final against Dublin, (Kingspan Breffni Park, 7.30pm).

Kilbride defender Paul O’Grady comes in at right corner-back in place of Jack Sharkey, having come on as a substitute during the Connacht final win over Sligo.

Seniors Kevin Higgins and Donal Shine were rested by manager Fergal O’Donnell for the NFL Division 3 defeat against Cavan last Sunday.

Opponents Dublin have three injury worries ahead of the game. Midfielder Cian Mullins and attacker Niall Brogan were both unable to feature in the Leinster final victory over Westmeath with hamstring and hip complaints respectively. Ciaran Reddin is doubtful after picking up a knock during Dublin IT’s All-Ireland Freshers success against Cork IT. It is still hoped that the trio will come into contention when manager Jim Gavin selects his starting 15 tonight.

Senior player Leo McLoone is the major injury worry in the Donegal U21 camp for their All-Ireland semi-final clash against Tipperary in Parnell Park on Saturday. McLoone was not risked by John Joe Doherty during Donegal’s NFL Division 2 defeat against Armagh in Letterkenny.

The Naomh Cónaill player is suffering from a quad muscle tear and is set to undergo intensive treatment to be passed fit.

Tipperary report no injury worries ahead of their first appearance in the last four of the All-Ireland U21 football championship.

Attacker Gavin Ryan missed the Munster final with an ankle injury but has recovered to come into contention for a starting place. His replacement for that game Aldo Matassa came through a hectic period last week unscathed after games for High School Clonmel in the All-Ireland Colleges SBFC final and Clonmel Commercials in the Tipperary U21 championship.

Defender Robbie Kiely, midfielder Alan Moloney and attacker Michael O’Dwyer also all came through local U21 games last week without injury problems and the squad’s senior stars were all rested for last Sunday’s NFL Division 2 tie against Donegal.
