Newtown contingent back soon for Cork

CORK’S Newtownshandrum players will be in line for their season’s inter-county bow on Tuesday evening when Denis Walsh’s side meet Clare in a challenge match.

Fermoy’s Fitzgerald Park will be the venue and the unveiling of the ground’s new floodlights will provide the occasion. The game had originally been scheduled for earlier this month before fog intervened.

Ben and Jerry O’Connor, as well as Cathal Naughton, are the three Newtown men certain to be joining up with the Cork squad having suffered the disappointment of losing to Ballyhale Shamrocks in the All-Ireland club semi-final recently.
