Keane slams timing of fixtures

Keane said it just did not make sense to be playing championship football at this time of year – their final meeting with Mayo champions Charlestown was postponed last weekend and a doubt remains about it going ahead on Sunday because of the appalling weather. “You would just have to question playing championship football at this time of year. The weather is particularly bad this year but what do you expect playing games at the end of November or into December.

“It is very hard for teams to train or play or give a good account of themselves after a long year,” said Keane who will be hoping to guide Corofin to their fifth Connacht title in Charlestown on Sunday.
