O’Neill out to earn shot at final redemption

TWELVE months ago, Stephen O’Neill watched from the stand in Croke Park when Tyrone easily overcame Wexford to qualify for the All-Ireland football final.

At the time, he was officially ‘retired,’ having last played as a substitute in Tyrone’s 2007 quarter-final against Meath.

After undergoing knee surgery shortly afterwards, he decided to put his career on hold.
