Royals censor Limerick video plan
Limerick manager Mickey Ned O’Sullivan attended the game and hoped to leave Navan armed with a video of the tie in advance of this Saturday’s Round 4 clash.
It’s understood the GAA had given permission for Limerick to video the game but Meath, who lost to Limerick in last year’s qualifiers, were in no mood to do the Munster finalists any favours.
County chairman Barney Allen admitted he made contact with GAA authorities when he heard of Limerick’s plans and took decisive action.
“I told Croke Park officials there was no way Limerick would be allowed into our ground to record a third-party game,” said Allen.
“I had no problem with Limerick coming and scouting.
“Indeed Mickey Ned O’Sullivan was at the game but they didn’t get their video.
“Croke Park must have contacted Limerick County Committee and told them we wouldn’t be letting them in because no one tried to gain access,” added Allen in The Meath Chronicle.
