THE new Croke Park pitch will be in ‘perfect condition’ for the weekend’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals stadium director Peter McKenna insisted last night.

McKenna revealed that the laying of the new surface was delayed by almost half a day following a dispute with local residents however he reported that ground staff have made up for lost time and that work is ‘going very well’.

Over 500 people have been working on the ground for the past three days, with one crew dismantling the giant U2 concert stage while the other group is concentrating on putting down the new sod.
