Kevin Jer turns on the power for Adrigole

KEVIN JER O’SULLIVAN was the star of the show as Adrigole powered through to the semi-final of the Evening Echo IFC after a 10-point win over Kildorrery.

O’Sullivan scored nine points, four absolutely delightful strikes from play, as Adrigole overwhelmed last season’s finalists.

Kildorrery never got off the ground in this game. They scored just two points in the first half courtesy of full forward John Howard, one from a free, while playing against a strong wind and things did not improve for them after the break when they went 21 minutes before registering a point.

At that stage in the proceedings Adrigole were leading by 1-14 to 0-2 and their ticket to a semi-final meeting with Kilnamartyra was well and truly booked.

Playing with tigerish intensity Adrigole never allowed their opponents to stamp their will on the game and although they had one of their key players Brendan Jer O’Sullivan stretchered off with an ankle injury in the first half the Beara side went from strength to strength as the game progressed.

Their defence, superbly marshalled by full back Shane O’Sullivan, was superb while at the other end Kevin Jer O’Sullivan breached the Kildorrery rearguard with almost contemptuous ease.

It was a sublime exhibition of football from O’Sullivan who recovered from missing a guilt-edged opportunity of a goal in the ninth minute to score some really superlative points.

He kicked four in the first half, two from frees, as Adrigole established a 0-6 to 0-2 interval lead after an error-strewn first half.

Kildorrery missed a glorious opportunity in the 21st minute when with the goal at his mercy, corner forward Miah Ahern fell over and lost position of the ball.

With Kevin Jer O’Sullivan continuing to sparkle Adrigole extended their lead to seven points before Tim O’Shea finished off a great attacking movement with a cracking goal in the 35th minute.

Steve Coughlan’s goal two minutes from the end was little more than a consolation for Kildorrery.
