Callaghan ruled out of final
The versatile Naas man has been getting treatment on a groin injury and it was responding well enough for him to be named in the starting line-up on Thursday night. He suffered a slight reaction however and it has been decided not to risk him from the start. He will take his place on the substitute’s bench and could well see some action.
Callaghan’s place at full-forward goes to Ellistown’s Ken Donnelly.
“It’s disappointing for ‘Leper’” said selector Niall Carew. “But we just couldn’t take the chance. Ken knows the system well, he has played in it and he’s a big strong man who works hard and can score.”
