Referee Reilly answers the Lilywhites’ call

KILDARE have taken a novel approach to the address the number of frees awarded against them by Cormac Reilly in their Leinster SFC quarter-final win over Wexford – they invited the referee to take charge of a training session.

The Lilywhites take pride in the effectiveness of their tackling and Kieran McGeeney was critical of some of Reilly’s decision- making after their Dr Cullen Park victory.

Having looked at the video subsequently however, McGeeney and his selectors Paul Grimley and Niall Carew accepted that the concession of frees is an area they need to improve on and so invited the Meath official to take a training game on Saturday.
