McCarthy admits relief

JUSTIN McCarthy has been involved in many Munster classics, but this certainly wasn’t one of them.

He’s been at Semple Stadium on big championship days with Clare, Cork and Waterford teams, but the Limerick manager will hardly have endured a more turgid encounter.

McCarthy reflected: “Games like that are so tight. There’s a lot of tension and a lot of hype about the whole thing. Overall it wasn’t a great championship game but we’re happy enough to get a draw, which is important having been six points down. We needed a game too, I felt.”
