The worst I’ve ever seen

THIS was the worst Munster championship clash I’ve ever seen, and that’s going back a while.

The worst I’ve ever seen

In farming terms, you normally rotovate your fields in January-February – yesterday, mid-June, Semple Stadium was rotovated by two very poor teams. I thought rucks and mauls were for rugby, but no, not after this – I have never seen such bunching around the sliotar as I saw yesterday in Thurles, I have never seen so many line balls. At times I wondered what I was looking at – was it rugby, was it just stick-fighting? Whatever it was, it wasn’t hurling, certainly not Munster championship hurling. Awful stuff.

And here, might I make a suggestion to the GAA powers-that-be – this game was so bad, admission should be free next Saturday. And here is another suggestion – in case it’s as bad again, would they not consider moving Galway/Kilkenny to Thurles also, make this a double-header where people might be guaranteed one good game, at least?
