CORK CONFIDENCE IS WELL FOUNDED
IF THE level of confidence in Cork this week translates into support for the footballers in Killarney tomorrow, Fitzgerald Stadium will be a heaving mass of red and white. All the more important then that the Munster champions have a cool, calm, calculating figure in charge in Conor Counihan to ensure than dangerous talk doesn’t seep into the squad.
But just because it’s dangerous talk — beating Kerry in Killarney is hardly a stroll in the park — doesn’t mean it’s irresponsible, or without foundation. There’s plenty of evidence to support the view that Cork will defeat the Kingdom in their own backyard, and some of it’s been growing over the years.
