Kerry call-up for Brosnan and Walsh

BARRY JOHN WALSH, younger brother of Tommy, and Eoin Brosnan have been added to the Kerry senior football squad. Walsh’s inclusion is no surprise but Brosnan’s return has taken Kerry followers by surprise.

Brosnan, the Dr Crokes captain, has not played or trained with Kerry since last September when he lined out at wing forward against Tyrone in the All-Ireland final. He has trained with his club all year but has only played in one serious game – last Sunday’s extra-time victory over Rathmore in the Senior Club Championship. The precocious Barry John Walsh, a member of the Kerry U-21 side well beaten by All-Ireland champions Cork in March, is a player bang in form, however.

Kerry have a number of first choice forwards out injured so Walsh and Brosnan might well be needed for cover.
