Kellys to miss final clash with Cats
Five-time Allstar Eoin has yet to feature this year because of a back injury while older brother Paul has not recovered from a hamstring injury.
Defenders Paul Curran and Shane Maher remain injury doubts along with attacker Gearóid Ryan. On the plus side Hugh Maloney, Pat Kerwick and Darragh Egan are all set to come back into the frame. Kilkenny Allstar duo Noel Hickey and James ‘Cha’ Fitzpatrick both came through club fixtures at the weekend unscathed.
Meanwhile Cork IT and UCC lead the way with representatives in the Ulster Bank Rising Stars awards which were presented at a function in Ulster Bank headquarters in Dublin last night.
Sigerson Cup champions Cork IT lead the way in the football team with seven players honoured — defenders Ray Carey, Conor O’Driscoll and Aidan O’Sullivan, captain Paul O’Flynn at midfield, and attackers Paul Kerrigan, Shane McCarthy and Daniel Goulding. Dublin IT had four players on the starting fifteen, NUIG two and one apiece for UCD and St Pat’s Drumcondra.
Fitzgibbon Cup winners UCC also received seven awards with Anthony Nash, Conor O’Sullivan, Shane O’Neill and Joe Jordan, John Mulhall and Bill Beckett honoured. UL had four players on the side, Waterford IT two and one apiece for Cork IT and Mary Immaculate.
