Rebel trio return for rchard battle

STAR players Anthony Lynch, Graham Canty and James Masters return to the Cork team for Sunday’s Allianz NFL clash with Armagh at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Lynch takes over the left corner-back position from Kieran O’Connor, Canty steps into the centre-back slot in place of Ger Spillane, while Masters is named at top of the right.

Promising Ballincollig youngster Patrick Kelly, recovered from injury, is selected at left half-forward with both Conor McCarthy and Fintan Goold dropping to the substitutes bench. Pearse O’Neill was ruled out because of injury.

Galway have made two changes from the side that lost to Mayo last time out for their visit to Tralee on Sunday to take on Kerry.

Niall Coleman comes in at midfield for Barry Cullinane while Fiachra Breathnach replaces the injured Damien Dunleavy on the left flank of attack.

Alan Brogan will make his first start of the League for Dublin, who take on Westmeath at Parnell Park on Sunday.

Brogan came on as a sub in the games against Kerry, Mayo, Derry and Donegal but is now named on the starting 15 for a game Dublin must win to preserve Division 1 status.

Apart from the inclusion of Brogan for Diarmuid Connolly there are three other changes from the side which drew with Kerry. Barry Cahill, Ciaran Whelan and Blaine Kelly come in for Bryan Cullen, Ross McConnell and Paddy Andrews.

Westmeath have made two changes on their side with Cathal Mullen replacing Gary Connaughton in goal and Keith Scully taking over the left corner-forward position from John McDaniel.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte has made seven changes for Sunday’s final NFL Division One clash with Mayo at Castlebar.

Trevor Mortimer has been named as the leader of the Mayo attack with Billy Joe Padden now holding down the left corner forward position.

Wexford will be without star forward Matty Forde because of injury for their League tie with Fermanagh at Wexford Park on Sunday. PJ Banville now takes over the left half forward position vacated by Forde.

Fermanagh, manager Malachy O’Rourke has made one change from the starting team which lost to Kildare. Pat Cadden takes up the number 12 jersey and Shane O’Brien moves from the wing to full forward. Eamon Maguire is the player to miss out.

Clare will be without the injured Conor Flynn for their game against Leitrim at Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday. His named replacement at centre-back is Graham Kelly, a brother of regular left half back Gordan.

Meanwhile, the Bord Gáis Energy Ladies NFL Division 1 semi-final between Dublin and Cork will be played as part of a double-header at Thurles on Saturday week with the Cadburys U-21 Championship semi-final featuring the same two counties.

The ladies game starts at 1.30pm and the U-21 game at 3.30pm. Both games will be televised live by TG4.
