Cork ring changes for Wexford clash
Former minor Kevin Murphy from Boherbue takes over the goalkeeping spot from Alan Quirke, Kieran O’Connor, Aghada is recalled at right corner-back with Ray Carey moving to full back in place of Noel O’Donovan, while Ger Spillane takes over the right half back position from Noel O’Leary.
Alan O’Connor and Nicholas Murphy resume their midfield partnership with Michael Cussen named again at full forward. John Hayes moves to right half forward with Paul Kerrigan replacing Pierce O’Neill on the forty and Paul O’Flynn of Ballyclough switching to left half forward at the exclusion of Conor McCarthy.
Kerry manager Jack O’Connor could be ready to hand returned Sydney Swan, Tadhg Kennelly a starting place on Sunday when his Kingdom charges face Westmeath in Tralee.
After cameo roles as a second half substitute against both Derry and Mayo, he looks likely to start on the half forward line on Sunday in place of Donnacha Walsh.
David Moran and Tommy Walsh are back in contention after losing out to Cork in the Munster U-21 game on Saturday last.
Both should start with Moran coming in at midfield. Tommy Walsh might well replace captain Darran O’Sullivan, which could mean Aidan O’Shea -if he starts — getting the nod to lead the Kingdom as Marc Ó Sé is sidelined for at least a month.
Killian Young will miss out again with a back problem and it’s likely Aidan O’Mahony will replace Ó Sé at centre-back with Daniel Bohan also likely to get a recall.
Darragh Ó Sé may wear no 24 on Sunday as O’Connor and his management team try and move closer to their Championship panel. The Kerry team is due to be named tonight.
The Cork U-21 football selectors have made one change for Saturday’s Munster semi-final against Waterford. Aidan Walsh is forced out after suffering a hamstring injury in last Monday’s All-Ireland Freshers hurling final. Denis O’Sullivan comes in at left half-back, Bart Daly moves to centre-back and Walsh’s Kanturk team-mate Lorcán McLoughlin has recovered from injury to be named amongst the substitutes.
