Connor: resignation decision in Offaly’s best interest

MANAGER Richie Connor yesterday resigned his post ‘‘in the best interest of Offaly football’’.

All-Ireland winner Connor and his management team felt they had little option but to step aside following a week of turmoil in the Faithful county in the wake of a crushing defeat to Roscommon last Sunday when a number of players quit the panel.

Connor said he was willing to meet with the players throughout the week to hear their concerns and resolve the issue but only one player accepted his offer. He expressed hope that the players can learn from the conflict.
