CORK hurling manager Gerald McCarthy has admitted the decision of the county’s senior footballers to support the striking hurlers has deepened the crisis in the Rebel County.

McCarthy said: “The situation is regrettable. I don’t think it should have happened this way but that’s the way things are. It’s all very sad and deepens the crisis quite a bit.”

Conor Counihan’s footballers indicated they will go on strike after the NFL if a successful resolution is not found by then to the current impasse.
