Playoffs needed in Corn Uí Mhuirí
Along with St Colman’s and St Fachtnas, all three schools finished on two points in Group C, having drawn their two games, and it will necessitate a playoff to decide which two will go forward to the knock out stages.
Two of the schools will be drawn from a hat to play each other. That draw will be conducted in Fermoy on Sunday. The winners will then go through as group winners and the losers will play the third team for the second place.
Already four Kerry schools are through to the quarter-final and should the holders make it that will increase to five. Cork are guaranteed three and it could be four should both St Colman’s and St Fachtnas qualify.
In Group A, Tralee CBS top the group with maximum points with Intermediate School Killorglan runners up. In Group B, Colaiste na Sceilge finish with maximum points with Coláiste Chríost Rí in second place.
All three teams in Group D, St Flannans, DLS Macroom and Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne finish on three points, but scoring differences sees the Dingle school on top with the Mid Cork school taking second place.
