Resolute Ring claim first title

RING, Ireland’s smallest gaeltacht, claimed another accolade at the weekend by landing their first Waterford IHC title after a cracking final at Fraher Field Dungarvan.

Resolute Ring claim first title

Despite conceding a goal after two minutes to Jerome O’Shea, the Ring lads found their feet and two green flags from county football star Liam Ó Lionáin in the 6th and 11th minutes gave them a lead they never surrendered.

With Seamas Ó Lionáin and Daragh Breathnach superb in defence, and Shane Ó Ceallaigh giving a man of the match display at centrefield, Ring began to strangle the life out of the St Molleran’s challenge. Another goal from Cian Ó Conchuir, quickly followed by a Padraig Ó Murchu point, left them leading 3-3 to 1-4 at the interval.
