THE GAA’s relationship with the AFL will not be shaped by the contentious issue of player recruitment, according to Director General, Paraic Duffy.

“It is very important to differentiate between the activities of agents on the one hand and the attitude of the AFL on the other,” said Duffy.

“The discussions around the whole area of recruitment and the concerns we have were very well addressed by the AFL. It doesn’t mean it’s an easy problem to solve. If players want to come to play in Australia, we have to respect that right. There is no easy solution to the issue of recruitment but we would be very happy that the AFL would look at our concerns in a fair way and it’s something to move forward over a period of time.
