Five first-time winners included in ’08 All Stars team

FIVE first-time winners, three of them from All-Ireland champions Tyrone, are included in the 2008 GAA Football All Stars team.

Kerry star Colm Cooper was selected for the fifth time, having previously been honoured in 2002, ‘04, ‘05 and last year while teammate Tomas Ó Sé and Tyrone’s Seán Cavanagh were each picked for the fourth time.

The selection of the team, as usual, was made by a panel of national journalists, representing the print, radio and television media. Champions Tyrone, predictably, gained the biggest representation with seven awards — one more than Kerry received in each of the last two years – and one less than the eight they won after their All-Ireland triumph in 2005.
