However, Russell reiterated his claim in his recently published book, Final Whistle, that he had felt degraded when having to pick up the notebook and he was perfectly happy with the manner in which he dealt with both the incident and the game in its entirety.

“I wouldn’t, no,” said Russell when asked if he now ‘looked down’ on Galvin after what happened that day in the game against Clare. “I felt sorry for Paul Galvin. He lost out on a whole year over what was, to me, a silly thing.”
