ALMOST 10 months after they formulated proposals aimed at improving and enhancing the continuity of play, the Disciplinary Task Force set up by GAA President Nickey Brennan faces the challenge in Croke Park today of trying to convince delegates of the merits of a system which would see players sent to the line on commission of any one of six specific offences and replaced by a substitute.

While admitting that there is ‘still a lot of confusion out there,’ committee chairman Liam O’Neill feels that the counties have a simple choice.

“We are asking if they are going to shirk their responsibility again, or are they going to say that at this point in time we going to take a stand and eliminate these fouls and the perpetrators from our game,’’ he commented.
