Barr’s hang on to shade thriller

ST FINBARR’S underscored their right to a place in Cork football’s top flight at Páirc Uí Rinn on Saturday evening when they stormed into an apparently unassailable lead and then withstood a late rally from gallant Newcestown in a the second half to an enthralling Cork Evening Echo IFC semi-final.

Barr’s hang on to shade thriller

A drab first half — the Barr’s led 0-5 to 0-3 at the interval — provided absolutely no hint of what was to come in a sensational second period that produced one stretch of scintillating football from the Togher side.

And it was ignited by super-sub Pádraig Condon who was introduced by Newcestown at half-time and was just three minutes on the field when he latched onto a pin-point pass from Tadhg Twomey and turned the game upside down with a spectacular goal.
