‘We only have ourselves to blame’

CONOR COUNIHAN answered a variety of questions after Cork’s defeat to Kerry yesterday but his answers all boiled down to two indisputable facts.

They didn’t capitalise on early scoring opportunities and frustrating as it was — and equally difficult to explain — they failed to perform to anything nearing a consistent level.

Not that he was in any way critical of his side, making a point of emphasising the pride and respect he has for the players, but he was up front in admitting where they fell down.
