Time to free up the fast free-taker

WITH five minutes to go in Saturday evening’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling qualifier between Limerick and Offaly, the hosts won a free around the middle of the field.

Three goals behind at the time, Denis Moloney was anxious to take a fast free, drop the ball in around the square, in an effort to salvage a little pride, at least.

But Offaly’s Joe Brady was having none of it and deliberately stood over the ball, preventing the fast free. Denis stood back, let fly, belted Joe across the legs.
