The Mourne men led throughout with the half-forward duo of Paul Braniff and Brendan McGourty accounting for over half of their scores, while substitute Gareth Johnston staked a claim for a starting spot against Carlow with 1-2 in the final six minutes.

The home side battled bravely with Mark Mythen and Ian Walsh both finding the net for the Exiles, but their opponents’ class shone through in the end.
