Team coach Conor Counihan said it’s too early to know just how bad the injury is: “But it was disappointing to see him hobbling off, particularly after what he had been through.”

In the 2006 Munster final at the same venue, the Cork captain fell in a heap after tearing his cruciate knee ligament and was out of action up to the championship of 2007.

It’s the other knee he has injured on this occasion and while there are fears he has torn the cruciate, there were will be an anxious wait on the results of a scan he is due to have today.
