Furious McEneaney walks out after ‘pub team’ insult

THERE was something of a new dawn for journalists in Croke Park yesterday with the old media scrum outside the dressing rooms replaced by a more civil soccer-style top table Q&A in the designated interview room under the Hogan Stand.

For the most part, it all ran smoothly, but it took only a matter of minutes for the first walk-out to occur, with Eamonn McEneaney taking serious exception to the suggestion that the first-half was akin to “a game between two pub teams”.

The Louth manager claimed the question was “insulting to my team and to the Dublin team” before bringing the brief on the implosion of his side in the final 25 minutes to a halt.
