McCarthy points the way for Dohenys

McCarthy, who plays his hurling with St Finbarr’s kicked 10 of his side’s tally, six of them from frees, to ensure the Dunmanway club go into the hat tomorrow night for the third round draw while Mallow must face their second relegation battled in two years.

The point scoring of McCarthy was magnificent. One of those rare breed of footballers who can kick scores with either foot, he must have impressed the Cork senior football selector who was on radio duty with the local station.
