TORRENTIAL rain forced the postponement of yesterday’s Evening Echo Cork SFC tie between Ilen Rovers and St Nicholas at Dunmanway.

Referee Cathal McAlister, who undertook a pitch inspection, said: “There is a lot of surface water on the pitch and it would be too dangerous for players to play.”

With Glen Rovers down to play in the senior hurling championship against Cloyne on May 10, it may not be possible to give the city clubs two weeks between games.
