GMIT and Garda to face off at last

THE long-running Sigerson Cup saga approaches a conclusion today, with the long-delayed semi-final between Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology and Garda College down for decision.

A bewildering series of objections, appeals and counter-appeals have delayed the game, while University of Ulster Jordanstown, already qualified for the final, wait patiently for an opponent.

The extent to which the saga has rumbled on can be gauged by the fact that the original Sigerson Cup weekend was scheduled for March 7-8 in Carlow IT.
