‘Rock’ back as Cork make four changes

CORK make four changes in personnel from the side that pipped Waterford for Sunday’s Allianz NHL quarter-final with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

Diarmuid O’Sullivan, John Gardiner, Brian Corry and Kevin Canty all start, with Cian O’Connor, Kevin Hartnett, Fintan O’Leary and Patrick Horgan sitting it out.

O’Sullivan returns at full- back, with Brian Murphy moving to left corner-back. Gardiner is named at right half-back in place of Kevin Hartnett, while Tom Kenny moves from centre-forward back to midfield where he will partner Stephen White.

Leigh Desmond is moved from centre field to right half-forward, with Brian Corry re-introduced at centre-forward.

Ben O’Connor has been selected at top of the right, with Patrick Horgan making way and Kevin Canty takes over the full-forward duties from Fintan O’Leary.

Tipperary have also made four changes from the side defeated Laois for their quarter final clash with Waterford at Nowlan Park on Sunday.

Brendan Cummins replaces Gerry Kennedy in goal while Eamonn Buckley returns in place of Paddy Stapleton at right corner-back. Up front, Ryan O’Dwyer and John O’Brien return in place of Joe Ceaser and the injured Pat Kerwick.

Monahan manager Seamus McEnaney has made just a couple of positional switches to the team that started against Meath last Sunday for tomorrow night’s floodlight Allianz NFL Division Two meeting with Cork at Páirc Ui Rinn.

Paul Finlay moves to the 40, with Stephen Gollogly and Conor McManus in the wing half forward positions. Vincent Corey moves to full-forward, a position he was switched to at the start last Sunday.

John Paul Mone, who had to retire injured last Sunday, is named at full-back while Darren Hughes retains the centre-back berth in the absence of Gary McQuaid, who is due to under go an operation shortly.

Colm McCullagh returns to the Tyrone attack for tomorrow’s NFL derby floodlit clash with Derry at Celtic Park. McCullagh was forced to miss last weekend’s win over Donegal after his wife went into labour.

He comes in at full-forward for Dromore clubmate Shaun O’Neill in one of three changes from the side that scored a two points win over Donegal last weekend.

Martin Swift replaces PJ Quinn at corner-back, while the goalkeeping rotation continues with Johnny Curran taking over from Pascal McConnell.

A positional switch sees Sean Cavanagh move from wing-forward to midfield in a direct swap with Enda McGinley.

Carlow, on a bit of a roll at present, have selected the same team that defeated Tipperary last weekend for Sunday’s Division 4 meeting with Waterford at Dr Cullen Park.

All Star and ‘Young Player of the Year’ Killian Young has been moved to full-back for Kerry’s meeting with Tipperary in the Munster U21 final at Ardfinnan tomorrow.

Young takes over from Michael Moloney, who is switched to centre-back. David Moran and Alan O’Sullivan continue their successful midfield partnership while Tommy Walsh will once again lead a much vaunted attack.
