Duffy unfazed at player funding fears

THE GAA has no immediate concerns about the implications of the Government-backed grants scheme “drying up” in the event of an economic downturn. And, they pointed out the GPA “acknowledged” it would not be the responsibility of GAA to continue funding.
Duffy unfazed at player funding fears

New Director-General Paraic Duffy made it clear at yesterday’s briefing that they were more concerned in the short term with “getting the scheme up and running first”.

“That will be an issue for the Government to decide. But, this organisation is a voluntary organisation in which resources are used to develop our games and our clubs at all levels. That will always continue to be the case. Look at the acknowledgment of the GPA, they have accepted the scheme,’’ he said.
