The end’s in sight

AN END is in sight to the long-running Cork players’ strike, with both parties last night agreeing to enter binding arbitration under the direction of Labour Relations Commission CEO Kieran Mulvey (pictured).
The end’s in sight

Representatives of the panels and the Cork County Board met at the Rochestown Park Hotel last night for 45 minutes and presented their cases to Mulvey, who will issue his decision this morning. He will inform both parties of his decision before then contacting Croke Park.

“I don’t think I should comment on what was said in arbitration,” said Mulvey last night. “Both sides put their positions professionally and fairly, without rancour or emotion, without any personal invocation of any personality issue. Both stuck to the issue and I very much appreciate the constructive way they approached this.
