Blackrock the first test as Erin’s Own seek third title on trot

CHAMPIONS Erin’s Own, seeking to win their third title on the trot, have drawn Blackrock in the opening round of the Cork SHC.

Defeated finalists Newtownshandrum are paired with Bishopstown, with the losers of both games meeting in round two.

Senior football champions Nemo Rangers open the defence of their title against Aghada; newly-promoted Mallow face Castlehaven, while defeated finalists Ilen Rovers meet St Nicholas looking to avenge their 2006 defeat.

In the Premier IFC, promoted Grenagh will play relegated St Vincent’s in round one. St Finbarr’s, also newly-relegated, play fellow city side Mayfield. The clash of the round should be the all-Duhallow game between Kiskeam and Newmarket.
