Match mix-up ‘human error’

LEINSTER COUNCIL chiefs have written off as ‘human error’ the embarrassing end to Sunday’s clash of the Dublin and Meath football champions.

Referee Eugene Murtagh called a halt to proceedings at the end of normal time, but with the scores tied extra-time should have been played.

Murtagh yesterday declined to comment when contacted, merely indicating that the situation was “not as clear cut” as has been widely reported.
