THE five-year limitation on county officerships is expected to result in an increased number of full-time secretaries.

Applications from a number of counties have already been made to Croke Park — with others in the pipeline — and the Central Council has put steps in place to facilitate the process.

It has been agreed that serving county secretaries can stay in place until March. Alternatively, a temporary appointment can be made for the first three months of 2008, while consideration is given to hiring a full-time officer.
