Shanahan, Walsh and Moran shortlisted for Hurler of the Year

WATERFORD’S Dan Shanahan, Tommy Walsh of Kilkenny and Limerick’s Ollie Moran have been shortlisted for the GPA’s Opel Hurler of the Year.

45 players have been named on the shortlist for the Opel Hurling Team of the Year, with three players for each position. The shortlist contains players from 10 counties: Kilkenny, Limerick, Cork, Clare, Waterford, Tipperary, Wexford, Galway, Dublin and Laois.

All-Ireland champions Kilkenny received 11 nominations, defeated finalists Limerick have 10. Semi-finalists Waterford and quarter-finalists Cork received nine and six respectively. The shortlists were drawn up by a selection committee of Donal O’Grady (chairman), Cyril Farrell, Michael Duignan and the Irish Examiner’s Diarmuid O’Flynn. The winners will be selected by GPA members, who have been issued with voting cards.
