Murroe/Boher hold off Claughaun’s brave rally
The winners were 0-8 to 0-3 ahead at the break after playing with the wind in the first half of this quarter final in Kilmallock yesterday.
All six forwards had scored at the break, but it was the 10 first half wides that concerned their supporters.
When James Butler goaled 13 minutes into the second half, Murroe/Boher were 1-10 to 0-4 to the good.
However, Claughaun then found their feet. Five successive points followed for the Limerick city side that could only muster one score from play in the first half.
But, they could only cut the lead to four points, 1-10 to 0-9.
Pat Tobin and brother, Sean, settled the nerves for the winners in the final five minutes.
Murroe/Boher finished with 14 men with midfielder Declan Kett sent off in the final minute for a wild pull under a dropping ball.

CROOM overturned a half time deficit to see off the challenge of East Limerick divisional side, Geraldines in yesterday’s quarter-final tie in Fitzgerald Park, Kilmalllock.
The amalgamation side were 0-9 to 0-7 ahead at the break after playing with the wind.
Centre back and captain Mark Keane contributed six frees half frees to their total.
Marcus Cregan and Stephen Cahill had Croom in front with six minutes of the restart, but then Geraldines hit for the game’s only goal through Jonathan Deere.
However, Geraldines were to score just two more points as Croom pushed towards the semi finals.
Stephen Cahill, Marcus Cregan, John Cahill and subs Stephen Moore and John Barry all hit fine points as Croom returned to the last four.
