Gleeson goal paves the way for Doon victory

CLEAN crisp hurling all the way, there was nothing between the sides until Doon CBS midfielder Eamonn Gleeson struck for a 46th minute goal which enabled the Limerick college get their Dr Harty Cup campaign off to a winning start at Mitchelstown yesterday.

Over the hour, Doon were the smarter hurlers and buoyed by two splendid wing backs in Michael Buckley and Mike Treacy and with centre-back Liam Reale in top form, they always had Glanmire’s measure.

Glanmire were slow to settle and despite the strong breeze at their backs in the opening quarter trailed 0-3 to 0-2.
