In a thrilling game, Stradbally took the lead within two minutes from a Niall Curran free and by the end of the opening quarter they were 0-4 to 0-1 clear with Fintan Walsh’s seventh -minute free the only positive for Clashmore.
Wash’s accurate free-taking kept his side in touch and they trailed at the break by 0-6 to 0-4.
With Karl O’Keeffe and Mark Power taking midfield control and Sean Fleming leading the attack, it was Clashmore who began to take control.
The game’s only goal came in the 38th minute when corner-foward Fleming finished off a five-man move with a blockbuster drive and edged his side ahead for the first time at 1-5 to 0-7.
Stradbally pulled level and that man Fleming had Clashmore back in front in the 54th minute before Walsh kicked his fifth point from a free to double their advantage.
Pat Weldon’s point four minutes into added time left one between them but the clock finally ran out on Stradbally after an enthralling contest.
